Our Story

Built by hand in
Hampton, Nebraska

Danish Oak is a family-owned custom cabinetry and woodworking business with a story built on craftsmanship, growth, and community. It started with a few hundred square feet and a refinishing bench. It's still built the same way: one carefully made piece at a time.

Two Decades In The Making

From a 765 sq ft shop to a full-scale custom cabinet operation.

Chapter One

It started with a refinishing bench.

Founded in 2004 by Dane Schafer, Danish Oak began as a small furniture refinishing and restoration shop. What started in a 765-square-foot space has steadily grown over the past two decades into a full-scale custom cabinet operation serving homeowners, builders, and contractors across the region.

Today, Dane and his wife Jennifer proudly co-own the business, shaping its direction with the same hands-on care that defined its early days.

Chapter Two

Built to grow, with quality at the core.

Strategic investments in facilities, technology, and people allowed the shop to evolve without losing sight of what matters most: high-quality, custom products that last.

A major milestone came with state-of-the-art CNC technology, dramatically increasing precision, efficiency, and capacity, from single custom projects to full-house cabinetry, accurate down to the thousandth of an inch.

Chapter Three

Main Street gets a new neighbor.

As production increased, so did the need for space. Danish Oak expanded into the neighboring former Smith True Value Hardware building, transforming it into a 10,000-square-foot facility housing an expansive showroom, offices, assembly space, and shipping.

The expansion let the company stock materials on hand, streamline workflow, and serve customers without supply delays.

Chapter Four

A showroom designed to inspire.

The showroom was created to help customers truly envision their future spaces. Explore cabinet styles, wood species, finishes, flooring, tile, and functional accessories like slide-outs, trash systems, mixer lifts, and utensil trays.

From walnut and clear hickory cabinetry to onyx showers, vanities, and countertops, it showcases both beauty and practicality.

Chapter Five

Family, team, and community.

Danish Oak is proud to be a second-generation business. Dane and Jennifer's son, Drake Schafer, joined full-time after earning his degree in Building Construction Technology. Having grown up alongside the business, Drake now plays a key role in operations and CNC production.

A dedicated team handles everything from production and finishing to customer coordination and logistics, and the support of the Hampton community and local families helped make expansion possible.

What's Next

Looking ahead.

With expanded facilities, increased capacity, and room for future growth, Danish Oak is well-positioned for what's next. The mission hasn't changed: beautifully crafted, custom cabinetry and wood products, made with integrity, precision, and pride.
